Leaving your dog at home is the worst part of any trip. The kennel booking, the guilt, the sad face at the door. So let’s skip all of that.

All three Home Suite Hotels are dog-friendly. We have two pet-friendly hotels in Cape Town, both in Sea Point, and one in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Your dog checks in with you, and their bed and bowls are ready when you arrive.

Here’s what each hotel offers, what to know before you book, and where to take your dog once you’re here.

Pet-Friendly Hotels in Cape Town

Both of our Cape Town hotels are in Sea Point, a short walk from the promenade. If you’re travelling with a dog, that matters. Morning walks by the sea become part of the trip.

Home Suite Hotels Sea Point

Our Sea Point hotel is a boutique hotel with a rooftop pool, breakfast included and free parking. Dogs get their own bed and food bowls in the room, and there’s a dog menu too, so they eat well while you’re here.

Home Suite Hotels Station House

Prefer self-catering? Station House is our aparthotel in Sea Point, and it has suites made for dogs. The Pooch Pad is 53m² with a separate bedroom, a lounge, a kitchenette, a king-size bed and a workstation. That means more space for you and more room for them to stretch out.

It’s a good fit for longer stays, or if you’d rather cook your own meals than eat out every night.

Home Suite Hotels Rosebank

Our Rosebank hotel is a few steps from the Gautrain, with Rosebank’s shops, restaurants and offices close by. It’s also home to Molly and Maggie, our resident rescue dogs. They’ll most likely greet you at the door, and plenty of guests say the dogs were the best part of their stay.

There’s a dog menu here as well, so your dog won’t miss out at mealtimes.

What to Know Before You Bring Your Dog

We love dogs. We also know not every guest feels the same, so we have a few house rules to keep the hotels clean and comfortable for everyone.

  • Pet fee: R250 per night
  • Size: Small to medium dogs are welcome
  • Alone time: Yes, you can leave your dog in the room
  • Let us know you’re bringing your dog when you book, so we can have everything set up before you arrive

What to pack: a lead, poo bags, your dog’s usual food, their vaccination card, and a blanket or toy from home. Something familiar helps a lot in a new space.

Dog-Friendly Spots Near Sea Point

  • Sea Point Promenade: Kilometres of paved walkway along the ocean, right on your doorstep.
  • Noordhoek Beach: About a 40-minute drive away, with wide open sand that’s great for a proper run.

Dog-Friendly Spots in Johannesburg

  • Emmarentia Dam: Plenty of open space and water, popular with dogs who love to swim
  • James and Ethel Gray Park: One of Joburg’s best-known off-lead dog parks
  • The Wilds: Indigenous gardens with art, city views and room to roam
  • Voodoo Lily Café, Birdhaven: Has a menu just for dogs
  • The Usual on Grant: Good breakfasts, good coffee, and dogs are welcome
  • Paul’s Homemade Ice Cream, Parkhurst: Ice cream for you and a dog-friendly treat for them

Why We’re Dog-Friendly

Dogs have been part of Home Suite Hotels from the start. Our co-founder, Gidon Novick, is a big believer in adopting, and he wanted guests to be able to travel with the dogs who are part of their family.

That’s also why we support Oscar’s Arc and the Sandton SPCA, two organisations that rescue dogs and help them find homes.
